The MIT Impact Investing Initiative (MI3) aims to provide students with the skills and experience necessary to become the next generation of impact investing leaders.

Internal Competition / Conference
MI3 hosts an internal competition in the Spring to decide which team will represent MIT Sloan at the international MIINT competition. The teams will be judged by a panel of expert impact investors. Following the competition, there will be a series of panels on trends in impact investing and a happy hour.
Training Series
The training series teaches students how to make an impact investment in an early stage social enterprise and prepare them for the MIINT competition. The series contains several 3 hour intensive workshops, developed in collaboration with Sloan Finance Department and the Sustainability Initiative. Industry guest speakers will also be invited to have the practitioners’ perspective and insights.
Lunch Series
The lunch series is a more informal way to meet current students, alums, and other experts working in impact investing. Through the lunch series, student will be able to get a better understanding of the different career options in the space.
Treks
In collaboration with the VCPE club, Net Impact, and a few other industry-specific clubs, MI3 organizes treks to impact investors in the Boston and Washington, DC area.
Recruiting Support
MI3 shares a resume book with impact investors in our network for summer internship and full-time recruiting. We also share summer internship and full-time position postings as they become available. To ensure our members are well equipped for recruiting we provide guidance on writing cover letters/resumes and preparing for interviews.
MIINT Competition
One of the MI3’s core action learning activities is the MBA Impact Investment Network and Training (MIINT), a program run by the Wharton Social Impact Initiative in partnership with Bridges Ventures. In this program, teams are organized by sectors (e.g. healthcare, financial inclusion, environment) and go through the full impact investing process: conducting research on sectors, sourcing potential social ventures, completing due diligence, writing an investment memo, and presenting to an investment committee. The winning team will receive a $50,000K investment in the social enterprise they pitched. Mi3 has a designated “Fellows” program for students who are interested in participating in MIINT. Students must apply to become a fellow and are organized into 5 sector teams (each with ~4 students).
