Welcome to I Love My Job, the series where we hear from people who really love their jobs. In this edition, we sat down with Em Audet, an Associate HR Specialist at GXO Logistics.
After the start of the pandemic and getting their master’s degree in 2019, Audet “desperately” wanted to join the HR field. They got this chance in February 2021 by joining GXO as a CWR (a temp worker) before quickly moving to a full-time HR position in July 2021. “GXO gave me the opportunity to grow and shine in my career path,” shares Audet. And after entering the company, Audet discovered what being a game-changer means. “To become a game-changer is to be inclusive,” they explain. “It’s to respect one another and know that your words are valued no matter what the idea is or what you are doing… It is an amazing opportunity.”
Audet has experienced this inclusive culture firsthand. “As a nonbinary person who transitioned while starting at GXO, I never felt left out,” they tell us. “I never felt different, and I never felt ashamed of who I am. I was accepted with open arms as I was, and that’s not something you find at every other job — that is something that was specific for GXO. I was able to feel so comfortable being who I genuinely am as a person and didn’t have to worry about side glances or misgendering.” Audet shares that everyone at the company is thoughtful and open-minded. “My favorite thing is being able to come to work as my true self and not have to think about anything else,” Audet says. “I can just be and do my job to the best of my ability.”
In the video, Audet tells us more about why they love working at GXO Logistics. We also provide lightly edited highlights from the video discussion in the following article on Fairygodboss – https://bit.ly/3Cys85X
